The Zambia Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies (ZITHS) and Kasanka Trust Limited have signed a three-year Memorandum of Agreement for collaboration on various Tourism, Hospitality human resources development initiatives.
Speaking during the event at Lusaka’s Fairview hotel on Thursday 20th May 2021, ZITHS Executive Director Dr. Wilson Silungwe said the deal will enhance development of research programmes that will mutually enhance the skill base and experience of students and employees of the two institutions.
He said both parties have mutually agreed to promote these initiatives on the basis of friendship, equality and mutual assistance.
Dr. Silungwe said allowing students to have hands on experiences through attachment in tourism places like Kasanka will help them acquire the necessary skills and ultimately improve the development of the tourism industry in the country.
And Kasanka Trust Board Chairperson Christopher Kangwa said tourism is an evolving industry and needs staff to meet international standards of service.
He said there is continuous need for would be employees to have the necessary cotemporally training and therefore, ZITHS could provide this manpower for the industry.
Mr. Kangwa said Kasanka being the home of the biggest mammal migration attracts tourists of various backgrounds with different service needs.
