Lusaka Province GMAs

Rufunsa  - 3,179 sq. km
The most common vegetation type in miombo in the hills an mopane in the low lying areas. There are open grassland and dambos, the main river is the Luangwa River.

An interesting feature of the GMA is that it encorporates an entire district within its territory this being the Luangwa District. This naturally comes with its own management challenges.
Wildlife in the GMA include African Elephant, Hippopotamus, African Buffalo, Common Waterbuck, Greater Kudu, Impala, Bushbuck, Common Duiker, Grysbok, Chacma Baboon, Vervet Monkey, Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, and Spotted Hyena.

Chiawa - 2,334 sq. km
Three main rivers characterize this GMA - Zambezi, Chongwe and Kafue. There is a large covering of mopane woodland in area that have been left undisturbed with thickets, riparian forests, grassland and dambos.

Some species of wildlife are abundant namely African Elephant, African Buffalo, Hippopotamus and Impala. Others are Greater Kudu, Bushbuck, Common Waterbuck, Warthog, Lion Leopard, Spotted Hyena And Chacma Baboon. NIle Crocodile is common in the rivers.
