The Ministry of Tourism and Arts says over 10 community game ranches will be opened in various Chiefdoms across the country this year.
Ministry of Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela says this is meant to empower Chiefdoms with wildlife resources and reduce pressure on demand for special licenses during traditional ceremonies.
Reverend Sikwela said there is need to sensitize and empower as many communities as possible to ensure wildlife is safeguarded.
He says meetings with various chiefs in their chiefdoms are being held to ensure the initiative is a success.
Reverend Sikwela who concluded a tour of Mpongwe district said the response by chiefs on the introduction of game ranching was tremendous and most chiefs believe the initiative is a good idea.
He adds that various benefits will come with game ranches such as community development in Chiefdoms.
